Roller Derby Long Beach Style!

Last Friday night, We attended a Roller Derby match! No, we did not travel back in time to 1974, we just drove to Long Beach where Roller Derby has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity. The women who skate and organize the derby are in it for the love of the sport. And after Friday night, they have a couple new fans. We met 'Flame Fatale' one of the skaters at last month's Zombie Walk, and she and Evelyn became Facebook buddies. Next match for Roller Derby is December 9th, who's in?

Sirena Serpentina

We witnessed a very cool act at Zombie Walk as we waited for Johnny Vato's Boingo Dance Party to take the stage. Sirena Serpentina was amazing. Beauitiful girls with fire can't be all bad! Fire dancing is an artform and these girls take it to a new level! Here are a few snaps of them doing their thing. Perhaps soon I can go photograph them properly!

Zombie Walk 2011

It was like a scene from The Walking Dead! Thousands of zombies converged on downtown Long Beach this weekend. It was a surreal night that ended in many of the members of Oingo Boing reuniting for a concert. No Danny Elfman was a no-show but the show was alot of fun. While we did not "shoot" the event, here are a few snapshots.
